Where the Good Guys at? - What to Expect from the Blog in 2023

WHERE THE GOOD GUYS AT? - What to Expect from the Blog in 2023 Happy 2023 everybody! Ouch - 2022 really wasn't as good a year for the blog as I had hoped, now was it? Without going into personal details, I've just had way, way too much on my plate, and the blog has suffered a result... While I'm afraid some of the readers may have interpreted my greatly reduced volume of posting as loss of enthusiasm, nothing could be further from truth! The blog has still been very much on my mind, and I'm hoping that in 2023 I can truly come back swinging - then again, I'm now wise (or bloodied!) enough to know not to make any promises, but the will is there! Unpublished, but not Forgotten - Clearing the Backlog What's been weighting on me the most, has been the fact that I still haven't been able to summon the time and the effort to complete PandaBeastMode's excellent IGL recap , but I'll finnish that next or die trying! After that there are still some RTF pieces...

An Obligatory Teaser Post

An Obligatory Teaser Post The Picture is for ambiguous teasing puproses only, and is provided by Corvus Belli.   Hello all! I'm terribly sorry that I haven't been able to dedicate more time for the blog of late, but rest assured that it's never too far from my mind! While I have some more "traditional RTF stuff" in the works in the longer term, today is not about that! Some acute readers may recall me agonizing over how to provide you with high quality Battle Reports with reprisentation from both parties involded, and also on how I could help other great Voices in the community get heard... Now it finally seems that I - or rather We - might have an answer ready! If everything goes to plan there will be some totally new kind of content coming your way soon! And with that nice and vague teaser, it's time to say once more... Until the next time - I wish you the very best in leading the Swift and Deadly Spear of the Haqqislamite Army to Victory!

WIP12 Podcast Ramah Taskforce Episode - With Yours Truly as One of the Guests!

WIP12 Podcast Ramah Taskforce Episode - With Yours Truly as One of the Guests! Hello everyone! I'm excited that I can finally share the news with you all; Raymond (AKA Cabaray ) was kind enough to have me on the WIP12 Infinity Podcast to talk about RTF with Jonathon (AKA ivoryronin ) and boy did we have some things to talk about! Have a listen yourself, and feel free ask any questions that the episode might raise by for example commenting below! I have to preface the discussion we had by stating that this time around is was deliberately sitting in my " very competitive player chair " and thus my bar for what's great and what's not was higher than usual - but this doesn't mean that I'd changed my mind on many units per se, it's just that I was taking a different approach from my usual outlook for this one! Also don't take my criticisms on some of the units and Fireteams too seriously either ; after recording the episode I felt my creative juices ...

In Search of Wisdom - My First Thoughts on RTF and ITS14

IN SEARCH OF WISDOM - My First Thoughts on the RTF and ITS14 In this series I reflect on the game of Infinity, as well the place of Ramah Taskforce in it.   I wrote an article like this one a year ago, so you should know what to expect - a combination of hot'n'cold takes on how the newest Organized Play Season of Infinity will effect our beloved Good Guys and Gals wearing Orange shoulder patches! Here we go!   Thunderclapping It  The ITS14 Season is named " Thunderclap " - the Combined Army 's armada has dealt the Cerberus Blockade above Consilium Prima a thunderous blow, and now it's time for the Factions of the Human Sphere to mount a lightning counter attack! The beginning of a new year of ITS not only means changes in the list of Missions available for competitive play and the shift of the global (and maybe to a lesser extend, the local) meta due to the new Special Rules introduced by the story, but it also marks the passing of some of the things that...

In Search of Wisdom - My First Thoughts on the N4 Fireteam Update and RTF

IN SEARCH OF WISDOM - My First Thoughts on the N4 Fireteam Update and RTF In this series I reflect on the game of Infinity, as well the place of Ramah Taskforce in it.   Corvus Belli just released the much anticipated N4 Fireteam update , as well as updates tn some of the units and unit profiles that are part of Ramah Taskforce . Obviously figuring out the effects of these changes will take time and there should be a marked shift in the Infinity Meta in the following months as people work to realize the potential of their Factions, as well as strive to counter the most dangerous combinations that will start taking to the battlefields of the Human Sphere. Nevertheless, I feel that a premilinary analysis on what the update could mean for RTF should be in order! The Time of the Immortals Has Come! As previously communicated to us by Corvus Belli, in the brave new post update world gaining the full Fireteam Bonuses will require formation of homogenious squads . After a premiliminary l...

In Search of Wisdom - Exploring Your Options

IN SEARCH OF WISDOM - Exploring Your Options In this series I reflect on the game of Infinity, as well the place of Ramah Taskforce in it.   At it's core, Infinity is a game of decision making . You decide what Faction you want to play, what units you choose to include in your list, what initial game plan you want to follow, how you deploy, what model(s) you leave in Reserve , how do you respond to the Opponent's deployment... And all this before the first actual turn of the game even begins! After that, as the motto of the game goes, it's always your turn , thanks to the amazing ARO mechanic... Before everyhing is said and done, you have made dozens if not hundreds of decisions, and while there are dice rolls involved, usually the player that has made more (impactful) good decisions will win the day! Afterwards, it's time to head back to the drawing board and begin planning anew... Because of all this and more, I wanted to take a look at the decision making processes ...

Officer Training School - Basic Theory on the Stances of Play

OFFICER TRAINING SCHOOL - Basic Theory on the Stances of Play In this series I'll be focusing on subjects that are specially geared towards new players starting with Ramah Taskforce.   Infinity is a deep, complex game that can demand quite a lot from a player aspiring for competitive success . I've recently been talking with my friends about how important it is to rightly identify the state of the game, and how to formulate the right strategy on how to proceed towards the most likely path to victory after making a careful assessment of the tactical situation. When watching newer players play, I often find them to be doing the right things, but at a wrong time . What I mean by this is that they're executing solid plays in and of themselves, but those plays aren't the ones that are going to take them closer to their victory conditions by the shortest possible route, and even worse, sometimes the plays being made are something a veteran opponent is baiting them into makin...
